According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United could offer Anderson as part of their bid for Benfica's Axel Witsel.
After impressing in Benfica colours during this season's Champions League, Witsel has earned himself several admirers, including Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Despite signing Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell, Red Devils manager Sir Alex Ferguson remains keen to continue rejuvenating his midfield before the start of the next campaign.
One player who will not be featuring in that area for United next season is Anderson. The Scot has grown frustrated with the player's spell on the side-lines due to injury, and is looking to offload him.
United officials are hence looking to offer up Anderson in a cash plus player deal for Witsel. The Brazilian is no stranger to the Primeira Liga, having signed for the Red Devils from Porto.
If Benfica turn down United's offer, Anderson could find himself on his way back to his former club, as a make-weight in a deal for Tottenham transfer target Joao Moutinho.
