Beggar arrested for attempted bribery

A beggar who was arrested tried to bribe his way out by offering two police officers $500 and some foreign currency.

However, Staff Sergeant Nur Hidayat bin Sanstoso and Sergeant Muhammad Zaki B Zainal rejected the offer and arrested the man.

The incident took place on July 12, when the police were alerted by members of the public about a man begging at Whampoa Drive.

The police said that the man has been referred to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) for the offence of bribery.
