5 men arrested for suspected Toh Guan gang robbery

Police have arrested five Singaporean men aged between 17 and 23 years who are believed to be involved in a case of gang robbery in the vicinity of Toh Guan Road East.

On Jun 26, 2012 at about 1am, a 28-year-old male victim was confronted and assaulted by five unknown men in the vicinity of Toh Guan Road East.

The suspects subsequently made away with the victim's wallet and mobile phone.

The victim lodged a police report about the assault later the same day.

Through investigations, officers from Clementi Police Division managed to establish the identity of one of the suspects and arrested him on July 4, 2012 at about 6pm in the vicinity of Jurong East Street 21.

Following his arrest, the other four suspects were subsequently arrested in the vicinity of Admiralty Road, Potong Pasir and Upper Bukit Timah Road shortly after.

The five suspects will be charged in court for the offence of Gang Robbery, which carries a punishment of a jail term of up to 20 years and shall also be liable with no less than 12 strokes of the cane.
