A private company engaged by the operator of the Tanjung Agas Gas and Oil Logistic Park in Pahang is being investigated for smuggling sand into Singapore.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has started investigating the company which was contracted to carry out sand reclamation and dredging work in and along Sungai Pahang to complement the infrastructural development of the park.

The MACC is also investigating the land office in charge of the area, according to a senior officer.

“We have opened a file on the case and our investigation will include looking at the possible transactions between some people at the land office and the contractor,” he added.
