S'pore Cup: Stags beat Phnom Penh, SAFFC edge Balestier

Stags beat Phnom Penh in goal-glut
Tampines Rovers moved into the second round of the RHB Singapore Cup after beating Phnom Penh Crown FC 4-3 in a rollicking encounter.

Steven Tan's men fell behind to a fifteenth minute goal from Khim Borey but Aleksandar Duric equalised in the 43rd minute before Jamil Ali and Imran Sahib struck in first-half injruy time as the Rovers went into the interval with a two goal cushion and three points seemingly in the bag.

Amazingly, the Cambodian side fought back with a two-minute brace from Kouch Sokumpheak drawing them level less than fifteen minutes after the break before Duric sealed his side's progress with a fine strike 25 minutes from time.

SAFFC edge Balestier in Singapore Cup
SAFFC beat Balestier Khalsa 6-5 on penalties to progress to the quarterfinals of the RHB Singapore Cup on Monday after 120 minutes of football produced a 1-1 draw.

Mislav Karoglan gave the Warriors the lead two minutes into the second half but Balestier came back strongly and netted an 88th-minute equaliser through Kim Min-ho to force the game into extra-time.

With neither side able to find the net in the additional half-hour, the match then went to the lottery of a penalty shootout and, after the first 11 takers had all successfully converted their spot-kicks, Tigers left-back Syed Thaha skied his effort to hand SAFFC the win.
