Police action at Bersih 3.0 rally the right move: NGOs

Ref: Bar slams police action
The Malaysian Bar has condemned the alleged use of excessive force by the police during the recent Bersih 3.0 rally. It has also renewed its call for a Royal Commission to "enhance the operation and management" of the police as well as for the setting-up of an Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission.

About 50 members from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have shown their support for the police personnel on duty during the April 28 Bersih 3.0 rally by handing them flowers at the district police headquarters.

They were Perkasa Subang Jaya, Subang Jaya Chinese Consumer Association, Selangor Community Policing Association, Kelana Jaya MIC, Wira Melayu Puchong and Selangor Indian Women Social Culture Association.

They condemned the Bersih 3.0 rally and those who had used it for their political agendas.

Subang Jaya Perkasa president Amran Ahmad said the public should not blame the police for taking action against the protesters.

"Can we live peacefully without the police?" he asked, adding that the protesters had deliberately provoked the police to achieve their agenda.
