Polling Day for the Hougang by-election, which will be held on May 26, will not be a public holiday, said a statement issued by the Elections Department today.
Employers are still bound by the law to allow every elector under their employment a reasonable period of time for voting.
Around 25,000 Hougang residents will be eligible to vote in the by-election.
Last year, Polling Day for the General Election on May 7 was slated as a public holiday in accordance with Section 35 of the Parliamentary Elections Act.
