Singapore finished the South-east Asia Youth Athletics Championships as overall champions on Sunday at the Bishan Stadium, thanks to its haul of one gold, 10 silvers and nine bronzes.
This is the first time the two-day event, now into its seventh edition, is awarding an overall championship based on points. Each gold medal garners a country eight points, with a silver medal garnering seven points and a bronze, six points, and so on.
Singapore finished tops out of the nine participating nations with 305 points over the two days, while Thailand were second with 228 points and Indonesia were third with 177 points.
Thailand, however, were top of the medal tally with 11 golds, seven silvers and eight bronzes. Jannah Wong was the Republic's lone gold medallist of the day, winning the girls' youth 100m hurdles event in 14.6 seconds.
