MSL: Johor FC apologise to FAS and Shahril

Johor FC have offered an apology to the Football Association of Singapore and LionsXII skipper Shahril Ishak for the bottle-throwing incident in their Malaysian Super League clash at the Pasir Gudang Stadium on April 7.

The LionsXII won 1-0. Towards the end of match, someone in the crowd opposite the grandstand threw a plastic water bottle which struck the head of Shahril. The 28-year-old collapsed to the ground in pain.

He was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and as he headed for the dressing room, more objects were hurled at the medical team and LionsXII team officials around him.

Speaking to Today, Wan Nizam Wan Omar, the Johor FC team manager, said on April 9: "I am really sorry for what happened that night but there are irresponsible people among the crowd.

"I would like to apologise to the FAS for the incident, and to Shahril for the pain caused by the sheer act of stupidity.

The Malaysian club have promised to tighten security at their stadium on match days, including allocating more police personnel.
