A mechanical fault caused train delays for nearly two hours on the North-South line this morning.
According to a SMRT spokesperson, southbound trains had to be driven cautiously in and out of Kranji station between 7.15am to 9.10am, due to a fault in a half-height platform screen door.
This happened during peak hours when train are deployed at higher frequencies, which resulted in a longer travelling time between Jurong East and Kranji stations.
Commuters on the affected trains contacted TODAY via Twitter to report increases in travel times of up to 20 minutes.
Engineers were deployed to identify the fault and rectify the problem, SMRT said. Announcements were made at all affected North-South Line stations and trains, and via Twitter to inform commuters of the service delay. SMRT apologises for the inconvenience caused.
