City Gas announces 3.3% increase in gas tariffs

City Gas, as trustee of City Gas Trust, announced on Thursday that the gas tariff for households will be increased by 3.3 per cent from May 1, from 21.45 cents per kilowatt hour to 22.16 cents per kilowatt hour.

On average, the gas bill increases will range from 35 cents per month for 1-room Housing Board flat to 61 cents per month for a 5-room HDB flat.

City Gas Trust supplies town gas to almost 90 per cent of residents living in new Housing Board estates and private properties, as well as commercial and industrial operations.

Gas tariffs are reviewed every quarter and are adjusted for changes in the cost of fuel for gas production. The upcoming increase is due to higher fuel prices, with the average fuel price over the last three months increasing by 9.1 per cent.
