SAF leveraging technology to minimise "standing around" time during ICT

The Singapore Armed Forces is leveraging technology to improve the efficiency of in-camp training (ICT) such as employing more modern learning tools such as videos and interactive apps to enhance collaborative learning.

This is to minimise "standing around" time, and to help NSmen focus on their training and operational duties.

The SAF has also introduced the Certificate in Business Management programme in partnership with Nanyang Polytechnic for warrant officers, specialists and military experts.

Officers can also take modules at the Goh Keng Swee Command and Staff College in SAFTI Military Institute that will be accredited towards NTU Master's programmes.

"We are adopting a more learner-centric pedagogy to create a training experience that is consistent with the learning habits and expectations of our soldiers. For example, our trainers today employ more coaching and facilitation methodologies. Trainees have more team-based active learning, with time allocated for them to consolidate and share their knowledge," said Minister of State for Defence and Education, Lawrence Wong.
