Duo arrested for alleged theft of metal items

The police have arrested 2 suspects aged 51 and 55 for alleged theft of metal items.

Metal items such as metal bars, hooks and chains were reported lost in the Pioneer Place area on February 25.

After follow-up investigations, police officers arrested the two suspects on March 3 in the Jalan Papan area where they were trying to sell their loot.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the duo is believed to be responsible for similar cases reported in Jurong.

They will be charged in Court on March 5 for the offence of Theft with Common Intention under Section 379 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

The suspects can be fined or jailed up to three years, or both, if found guilty.

Commander of Jurong Police Division Assistant Commissioner of Police Florence Chua commended her officers for their policing efforts.

She said the police will pursue all leads in order to apprehend anyone involved in such crime.
