Dunkin' Brands to open 1,600 new outlets in Asia by 2015

Fans of Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins can look forward to savour their desserts at more outlets in Asia.

The parent company Dunkin' Brands announced today that it plans to open around 1,600 new stores in the region by 2015.

Currently the group operates about 2,400 Dunkin' Donuts and over 3,000 Baskin Robbins restaurants in 15 countries in the region.

Dunkin' Brands' chief executive Nigel Travis said: "Country by country, Asia seems the place to be. We are excited by what's happening here but we are also pleased with the progress in US. We are very focused on Asia. We think Asia, which already has 5,400 stores between the two brands, can be an engine of real growth for us in the future."

To increase sales, Dunkin' Brands is looking to widen its franchise in key markets like India, China, South Korea and Japan. One way it plans to do this is to increase the brand's awareness in the region.

To make its products more attractive, the group aims to reduce ingredient costs by manufacturing locally. It also plans to add variety by creating local products that cater to each country's taste buds.
