Crane collapsed, one dead, two more hurt

One worker died and two others injured after a crane collapsed at a construction site along Fort Road, on Wednesday afternoon.

The 21-metre high crane had collapsed onto a nearby seven-storey building that is under construction.

A 42-year-old man from China was pronounced dead at the scene after he was trapped under the boom of the crane and had to be extricated.

Singapore Civil Defence Force officers rescued the two injured men, also from China, from the rooftop of the building, using another on-site crane and crane bucket.

The casualties were later sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital with a suspected spinal injury and a fractured right thigh respectively.
