By-election buzz picks up in Hougang

Hougang shopkeeper J. Heng has seen some unusual traffic in his neighbourhood sundry shop of late.

A few weeks ago, Workers' Party (WP) chief Low Thia Khiang - his former Member of Parliament - came by and introduced a new face. 'This is Png Eng Huat. Please give him your support,' Mr Low said in Mandarin.

Mr Heng, a Hougang resident for over 20 years, also received a flier at his home, showing Mr Png's photograph and contact details.

Another recent visitor to his shop was Mr Desmond Choo, 33, the People's Action Party (PAP) candidate in Hougang in last May's General Election.
