7 recruiters from loanshark syndicate arrested

The police have arrested seven loanshark syndicate members believed to have recruited runners from Vietnam.

The men - four Singaporeans and three Vietnamese aged between 31 and 46 - are also believed to have facilitated the accommodation of the Vietnamese harassers after they entered Singapore.

More than $70,000 worth of Singaporean and foreign currency was seized, as were several mobile phones, bank cards, a bank book, credit cards and notebooks.

This is the first time Vietnamese recruiters have been arrested, and the three suspects are on social visit passes.
