Hougang United and Albirex Niigata continued their unbeaten starts to the 2012 Great Eastern-YEO's S.League season on Friday with comfortable victories.

Hougang, who were held to a 1-1 draw by Tanjong Pagar United last Thursday, easily beat Courts Young Lions 3-0 at the Jalan Besar Stadium, courtesy of goals from Sobrie Mazelan, Jordan Webb and Stanislav Vidakovic.

Sobrie opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he latched onto a clearance from his goalkeeper Ng Jia Fa before slotting past Swazwan Buhari, and five minutes before the break, the Cheetahs doubled their advantage through Canadian striker Webb.

Vidakovic then ventured forward to nod home a corner ten minutes into the second half to wrap up all three points for Hougang and condemn the Young Lions to a second straight loss.

At the Jurong East Stadium, Albirex recovered from going behind in the third minute to thump Tanjong Pagar 4-1.

Jaguars defender Hafiz Osman gave his side an early lead when he headed home from a corner, but the goal only served to stun Albirex into action, and the White Swans duly equalised seven minutes before halftime when Masatake Sato curled a brilliant 20-yard effort in off the post.

Yasuhiro Yamakoshi then sneaked in behind the Tanjong Pagar backline to double Albirex's advantage in the 76th minute, before he grabbed a second when he blasted a ferocious effort through a five-man mall past Fajar Sarib.

Toshikazu Soya then applied to the final touches to an excellent performance when he scored from close range.

Friday's results mean Albirex are now top of the table after two games, while Hougang are an impressive second, ahead of Balestier Khalsa on goal difference.

Sunday's S.League action will see SAFFC entertain DPMM FC, while Geylang United travel to Woodlands Wellington for their first game of the season, having received a bye in the previous round.
