Parathletes Adam Kamis and Shariff Abdullah conquered all nine new and upgraded obstacles along the 14km course. Both men took part in the race for the first time to help raise awareness for disabled athletes in Singapore.

Mr Abdullah, 43, who is also known as Singapore Blade Runner, said, "I took part in the Men's Health Urbanathlon to challenge myself and hopefully, in the process, inspire other disabled Singaporeans to live life to the fullest."

Some of the obstacles in this year's race included Corporate Ladder, where runners had to ascend and descend the viewing gallery of The Float@Marina Bay and Monkey Business, where participants were required to swing across four sets of monkey bars placed side by side parellel to each other.

There was also another obstacle called the Down And Dirty, which consisted of two skip tanks filled with mud and water.

This year's individual category winner was Thomas Kiprotich, 24, from Kenya.

He came in first with a timing of 50 minutes 51 seconds, and won $10,000 worth of prizes.

40 year-old Briton Mark Williams came in second place at 52 minutes 59 sec, while 28-year-old Malaysian Foo Gen Lin took third place with a timing of 53 minutes eight seconds.

This year's race also featured a new corporate category.

More than 90 corporate teams, each comprising three to five runners, fought for the grand prize which was worth up to $10,000.

A Singapore Police Force team of three Nepalese runners, Dev Rai, 30, Nabin Kumar Rai, 28 and Kamal Magar, 30, emerged victorious.

Teams from the Singapore Prison Service and Morgan Stanley took second and third place respectively.

2,300 participants took part in the Men's Health Urbanathlon. This is the third consecutive year it is taking place.
