Cat found trapped on glue trap, SPCA calls for ban

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has reiterated its call for the banning of glue-board traps after a cat was found stuck to one such trap on Feb 17.

SPCA said it has contacted the Town Council and the pest control company involved, to inform them that they will take this matter further.

"We have also written to AVA to request that they ban the use of such traps with immediate effect and that action be taken against the parties responsible in this case," it said.

A photo posted by the association showed a cat caught on a glue-board trap with its mouth gaping wide open.

Its body was covered in a greyish substance and plastered with plastic bags.

SPCA said the cat never stood a chance.

"The board trap was about 4 feet by 5 feet in size and the amount of glue on the board was excessive," it said.
