113 nabbed in single night in islandwide crackdown

A total of 113 people were arrested for suspected involvement in unlawful activities during a police operation that lasted through the night and ended early this morning, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said.

The major island-wide operation was coordinated by the Criminal Investigation Department and involved police officers from all the six police land divisions, SPF said.

Arrests were made in locations all across Singapore, and included shopping centres, entertainment outlets and backlanes in Geylang, Beach Road, South Bridge Road, Orchard, Yishun, Sembawang and Woodlands.

Sixty-nine males and 44 females aged between 17 and 50 were arrested for various offences, including gang-related activities, drug offences, unlawful employment and vice-related offences.

Breaches of licensing conditions were also discovered at several entertainment outlets.

Investigations are still on-going, and the police said that the public can expect more such operations in the coming months.
