Worst place to drive in S'pore: TomTom

Dutch company TomTom collected anonymous data from its GPS users over a six-month period from Sept 2010 for this survey. Travel times in the two busiest periods, between 8am to 9 am and 5pm to 7pm, were compared with the quietest period between 1am to 5am.

According to their findings, motorists living in Clementi have the worst morning commute to the city centre, with driving time increasing nearly 2.5 times during the peak hours compared to when the roads are clear.

Bukit Timah came in second while Bishan and Jurong West were ranked third- and fourth-worst respectively for the average commute with traffic times more than doubling.

Tampines was the area least affected by peak hour traffic. However the data told a different story for Tampines in the evening.

The town zoomed to the top of the chart with the worst evening commute back from the city.
