The suspects are aged between 16 and 22.

Between November 29 and December 8, police received reports of cases of armed robbery committed by two men in the Yishun and Ang Mo Kio estates.

Police said the victims were usually confronted by both suspects at secluded places on the pretext that they had caused trouble to the duo.

After that, the duo would brutally assault the victims and rob them of their mobile phones.

In some cases, the victims were threatened with a knife.

After establishing the identities of the suspects, police arrested the first suspect around River Valley at about 1:30 am on Sunday.

Another ambush operation was immediately mounted, leading to the arrest of the second suspect around Yishun, Avenue 11.

Police believe the suspects are involved in at least five cases of armed robbery and other similar cases which may not be reported.

Both suspects will be charged in court on Monday with armed robbery with hurt.

If convicted, each faces a maximum of 20 years' imprisonment and caning of not less than 12 strokes.
