Hong Leong spreads X'mas cheer

FOR over 30 years, the Hong Leong Foundation has kept up with its philanthropic and corporate social responsibilities.

And despite global economic uncertainties, the foundation continues with the legacy of the founder of the Hong Leong Group of Companies, the late Kwek Hong Png. He had laid down the philosophy that corporations should give back to society, by paying it forward.

This year, the foundation donated $400,000 to some 3,000 elderly recipients under the public assistance scheme, with each receiving $120, and 720 Medical Fee Exemption Card holders getting $50 each.

Its outreach list for the year included the renewed adoption of the Fragile Forest Exhibit at the Singapore Zoological Gardens, establishment of the Ong Pang Boon Bursary at the National University of Singapore, the SR Nathan Education Upliftment Fund, and the Down Syndrome Association of Singapore.
