Facebook to tighten privacy after Irish probe

After three month of investigations by the Irish Data Protection Commissioner (DPC) at Facebook's international headquarters in Dublin, it found that users were at risk of unknowingly publicising personal details.

For example, privacy policies were overly complex and lacked transparency. Users might not be aware that uploading their photos made them publicly searchable until they change the setting on their Facebook page.

Facebook agreed yesterday to overhaul privacy protection for more than half a billion users outside North America as a result of this probe.
