Electrical surge on train causes 9-min delay on North East Line

A loud bang was heard coming from a train along the North East Line at about 7.20pm yesterday, due to a sudden electrical surge on the train.

A short in the surge protector resulted in the sound and, as a safety precaution, passengers were asked to disembark at Hougang Station, causing a nine-minute delay in the Punggol-bound service.

NEL operator SBS Transit said announcements were made to commuters and the affected train was sent to the depot for checks.
