Why the entire FAS setup sucks

It was a year where the S-League had failed to revive interest in Singapore's professional competition and it ultimately showed in its inability to provide the national squads with quality players.

This was evident in Lions performance in their recent World Cup qualifying campaign, where the only spark was beating Malaysia 6-4 on aggregate, and the under-23's failure to meet its final target at the recent SEA Games.

And, despite efforts by the FAS to improve standards the league continued to invite criticism.

Former Singapore captain Indra Sahdan, 32, felt discipline is the vital ingredient the S-League needs to raise the standards.

"When I was younger, I was fortunate that seniors would scold me if I made a mistake. That doesn't happen now, and the younger players are a little lax in discipline. Maybe that 'old school' aspect of the game should make a comeback."
