Then And Now: Unmasking the new me

SHE WAS just 18 then, but Madam Farzana Abdul Razak became a heroine in Taipei during one of Singapore aviation's darkest days.

She helped save passengers when SIA flight SQ006 crashed in 2000 - but her heroism cost her dearly.

Suffering from burns that left her limb and face wrapped in bandages, Madam Farzana has fought pain and depression since that fateful day.

However, even though the scars remain, the 29-year-old has emerged from her psychological turmoil and can even joke about how her scars came to be.
