He is believed to have fled the scene of crime after splashing paint on a unit at Hougang Street 22 yesterday, but was later spotted at a bus-stop nearby.
He tried to flee on foot but police officers caught up with him and found handphones with suspected debtors’ records and cans of paint in his possession.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a debtor-turned-runner and had carried out loanshark harassment in the Hougang housing estate.
The suspect will be charged in Court on September 5 for loanshark harassment under the Moneylenders Act 2010.
First-time offenders found guilty of acting on behalf of an unlicensed moneylender can be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, a fine of not less than $5,000 and up to $50,000.
