Teach students how to pronounce English properly

One of the problems in our schools is that students are not taught to pronounce English words using the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), resulting in many mispronounced words which students eventually take to the workplace.

For example, the word "Wednesday" should be pronounced as "Wenz-day" and not "Wed-nes-day"; the word "tuition" should be pronounced as "tu-e-shen" and not "tu-shen"; the word "liaise" should be pronounced as "lee-eyz" and not "lie-yez"; and "colleague" should be pronounced as "kol-eeg" and not "ker-leeg".

Many English words are pronounced using the silent letter rule: The word "salmon" is pronounced without the "l'' sound, "doubt" and "debt" are pronounced without the "b" sound, and "often" is pronounced without the "t" sound.

Many English dictionaries use the IPA to represent the pronunciation of words, and it will definitely help students get their pronunciation right if they are taught it in schools.
