It may be the hottest weekend of the year, but a growing number of stores are choosing to put the brakes on their business.
Many tenants at the Singapore Flyer and the Esplanade will be shutting their doors during the Singapore Grand Prix.
Out of 27 tenants in both malls that The Straits Times contacted, 12 are choosing to close - some for a whole week. Out of those interviewed, 20 said they expect business to fall by up to 80 per cent.
The reason: Both areas are part of the race circuit. This means they will be closed to the public from Friday to Sunday, when only Formula 1 ticket holders and accredited pass holders will be able to gain entry to the race circuit.
