The Masterplan is a national road map to chart the development of programmes and services for persons with disabilities over the next five years.

It is expected to be ready by early 2012 and will adopt the life stage approach (from birth to adulthood) and identify areas of improvement.

Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, Mr Chan Chun Sing, announced the appointment of Mr Chua Chin Kiat as chairman to lead the Masterplan's development.

Mr Chua is the chairman of the Centre for Enabled Living (CEL), which is the information and referral centre for the disabled, elderly and their caregivers.

He will head the 31-member committee to review service needs in the disability sector.

The Masterplan will focus on early intervention; education, employment and healthy lifestyle; and adult care and caregiver support.

Public feedback can sent to CEL at feedback-disability@cel.sg.
