Police arrested a 53-year-old male yesterday for stealing a van and for several cases of cashcard theft from vehicles.

The vehicle was parked at Ang Mo Kio Street 54.

The driver had left the engine running with the key in the ignition while he went to deliver some items.

He returned moments later to find the van missing.

Within 10 minutes of the call, police patrolling the Ang Mo Kio neighbourhood spotted the van and suspect.

Upon apprehending the man, further investigations revealed the suspect to have stolen at least seven cashcards from cars in the vicinity.

If found guilty as a first-time offender, he may be imprisoned for a term which may extend to seven years and a fine.
