After backing horse racing and hockey, the Carbine Club of Singapore could target swimming, sailing and rugby to benefit from their support. The Club, an organisation of Australian businessmen and professionals, on Monday announced a partnership with the Singapore Hockey Federation (SHF) to send promising players for attachment to top league outfits Down Under.

The programme, which was revealed at Australian High Commissioner Doug Chester's residence, will see the club investing some S$10,000 annually into hockey.

The initiative will see three to four promising players attached to top level teams in the Australian Hockey League, with the club paying for expenses such as airfares, meals and gym membership fees.
