Six people suspected of three different cases of loanshark harassment have been arrested over the past two days.
In the first case, a 45-year-old man was arrested at his home on Thursday after allegedly posting envelopes containing 'hell-notes' to residents staying in Jalan Bukit Merah, Telok Blangah, Bukit Purmei, Whampoa Drive, and Race Course Lane.
Envelopes, flyers, hell notes, and stamps were seized from his flat in Kang Ching Road. He is believed to be a debtor turned loanshark runner and is suspected of being involved in at least 15 cases of such harassment.
Three youths were also arrested on Thursday after a spate of loanshark harassment attacks on residents in Yishun and Hougang. The youths, aged between 14 and 16, are suspected of splashing paint and scrawling graffiti outside the units of debtors. One of them, 15, was arrested at his home where police found cans of paint and a mobile phone containing debtor's records.
