The 15-kilometre race is set to take place on October 16 starting at Jalan Tan Tock Seng and passing through Moulmein, Lavender, Kallang, Mountbatten, Fort Road and East Coast Parkway before ending at Casuarina Grove.

The race is organised by the Singapore Hospice Council (SHC) in conjunction with World Hospice and Palliative Care Day.

"The hospices and hospitals which provide palliative care do need support. As our population ages, there is greater need for palliative care for our people," said Dr R. Akhileswaran, Chairman of SHC.

The SHC is an umbrella body incorporating all organisations actively providing hospice and palliative care in Singapore.

This includes - Assisi Hospice, Bright Vision Hospital, Dover Park Hospice, HCA Hospice Care, Metta Hospice Care, Agape Methodist Hospice, Singapore Cancer Society, and St Joseph's Home, the National Cancer Centre Singapore, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Changi General Hospital and Lien Centre for Palliative Care.

Those interested in participating in the bicycle ride can get more details and register on-line at
http://hospicedayride.sg.

Participation is $10 per person. The monies collected will be used to cover the cost of the event.
