BEWARE of loan sharks. Don't fall prey to their schemes. Don't be tempted by lucrative but illegal temporary jobs.

Principals at six secondary schools have been sounding these warnings to their students following the recent arrest of 85 young people suspected of loan shark-related offences.

Principals' tips for students

  • Check any material - such as name cards, fliers or stickers - which you are asked to distribute. Don't automatically assume it's legitimate.

  • Don't be distracted by the payment offered for the job.

  • If in doubt, consult a reliable source such as parents or teachers about the temporary job you are taking up.
