It was about 9:30 p.m., and Adriana Ibarra, 25, had finished her day job as a nanny and was arriving at her second job at a bar in the 1800 block of Royal Lane. She is planning to go to school for a master’s degree at the University of North Texas.

The surveillance video shows the suspects pull up in a maroon Nissan Ultima or Maxima. They exit the vehicle and walk out of view. The female robber returns to the vehicle to retrieve a tire jack.

The video shows Ibarra park her hatchback. She’s on her cellphone as she retrieves items from her back seat. The male robber approaches from behind and puts a three-inch knife to her side.

“He was like, ‘Hang up the phone, give me all of your stuff,’” Ibarra said. “I turned around and I say, ‘Are you kidding me?’ He says, ‘No, I’m not.’ He pushes me into the car and he gets on top of me.”

In the video, Adriana Ibarra is dragged kicking and screaming, but fighting all the way, across a parking lot. She clings to her gym bag and purse with a ferocity worthy of prime-time TV.

“I do feel very fortunate that he didn’t cut me or stab me,” said Ibarra, who was held at knifepoint during the violent March 29 robbery in a Northwest Dallas parking lot. “I’m definitely frightened, and I’m furious.”

Ibarra, who suffered road rash but was not seriously injured, said she knows she’s fortunate to be alive. Police released video of the struggle Thursday, asking that anyone with information about the robbery or suspects contact them at 214-670-6179. They describe the robbers as “cowards.”
