Seattle police officer arrested on suspicion of drink driving

On April 3, Sgt. Scott Moss, a 16-year veteran, was driving north on Interstate 405 near Newcastle when he was pulled over at 5:05 a.m., said Trooper Cliff Pratt, a spokesman for the State Patrol.

Moss, 41, was driving his personal vehicle, a blue Jeep Cherokee, and a trooper saw it drifting back and forth between the far right lane and the freeway's shoulder, Pratt said. The trooper smelled intoxicants after approaching Moss.

Moss' blood alcohol content (BAC) was subsequently measured at .069 and .075 percent, below the legal limit of 0.08.

"He did identify himself as a police officer," Pratt said. "Throughout the whole thing Scott was courteous and polite, and toward the end of it he was apologetic for the situation."

Moss, who is assigned to the West Precinct, was taken to the Issaquah City Jail for processing, then released to a Seattle police commander.
