Fergie prepares summer Sneijder bid

A summer of hectic activity is expected at United, with a new goalkeeper being high on Ferguson's agenda, while underperforming squad players like Anderson and Michael Carrick and the out-of-favour Dimitar Berbatov could all find themselves on the way out of Old Trafford.

Ferguson has also made no secret of his desire to find a capable replacement for veteran playmakers Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, with the latter strongly tipped to retire at the end of this season.

Ferguson has identified the growing unrest at Inter as the perfect opportunity to prise Wesley Sneijder away from the Italian giants.

Inter's season has threatened to unravel in recent weeks, with their faltering bid for the Serie A title matching their UEFA Champions League exit in terms of disappointment.

Sneijder has the ability and the necessary credentials to take over as United's midfield general, having learned his trade at Ajax's famed youth academy, before learning from the best at Real Madrid and now, Inter.
