ASIAN Games silver medallist Cherie Tan stormed to victory at the prestigious European Bowling Tour Masters in Slovenia after winning six out of seven matches in the round robin final.
The 22-year-old was the second-lowest ranked player going into the tournament and only got there because of withdrawals further up in the European Bowling Tour rankings.
But her mental strength helped to keep her focused on the lanes and to remain confident that she could win, said Singapore Bowling in a press statement.
During the Round Robin, Cherie won the first 6 matches and defeated Birgit Poppler, Lisanne Breeschoten, Krista Pollanen, Joline Persson-Planefors, Wendy Kok and Kamilla Kjeldsen and earned an additional 120 pins. Combining the first 3 qualifying rounds score of 4033 and the score from the Round Robin and the Bonus, she emerged champion with a total of 5771 pinfalls. Cherie won a total of 4,800 euros in this tournament.ORIGINAL SOURCE
