Toa Payoh retiree stabbed to death: Case unsolved 3 years on

SINGAPORE - A murder case involving a 72-year-old retiree, who was found dead in his flat nearly three years ago, remains unsolved with no tangible leads despite extensive police investigations.

Mr Koh Sam Hong was found lying face up on his bedroom floor in a flat at Block 79C, Toa Payoh Central, at around 11pm on July 31, 2008.

A coroner's inquiry into Mr Koh's death revealed that he had been stabbed in the back with a knife which was still embedded in his body when the authorities arrived at the scene. Other than this, the retiree had no other injuries.

Senior Station Inspector (SSI) Zainal Abidin Ismail told the court the front door to the flat showed no signs of forced entry and the unit had not been ransacked.

Other than a mobile phone and a haversack worth about S$140, nothing else was missing from Mr Koh's room.
