On 18 March 2011 at about 2.35 pm , an 18-year-old girl entered the lift in a block of flats at Kim Tian Road with an unknown man. As she was stepping out of the lift at the 20th floor, the man suddenly molested her. The victim, who was shocked, rushed out of the lift and called the police.
Through extensive enquiries and immediate follow-up investigations, officers from Central Police Division were able to establish the identity of the suspect and subsequently arrested him at Jalan Bukit Merah the same day at about 4.30 pm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to be involved in other cases of outrage of modesty reported in Jalan Bukit Merah, Jalan Membina and Kim Tian Road .
The suspect will be charged in Court on 19 March 2011 for Outraging Modesty under Section 354(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a maximum jail term of two years imprisonment, or with fine or with canning, or with any combination of such punishments.
