On 17 March 2011 at about 12.40 am, Police were informed of four youths aged between 15 and 18, who were spotted behaving suspiciously in the vicinity of Tampines Street 42. Officers from Bedok Police Division responded promptly and conducted a check on the said youths.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the four youths were believed to be responsible a case of mischief by fire and at least three cases of bicycle theft in Tampines housing estate. Several lighters and a hammer were found in the suspects’ possession and seized as case exhibits. Follow-up investigations also led to the recovery of four bicycles which are believed to have been stolen.

Investigations against the suspects are on-going.
Under the Penal Code, anyone found guilty of Mischief by Fire shall be liable, upon conviction, to an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years and fine. If convicted for Theft, an offender will be liable to a maximum imprisonment term of three years, or with fine, or with both.
