Taxi ploughs into shop

HE WAS sharpening his tools at Century Barber Shop in Tiong Bahru when he heard a scream and a loud crash.

The next thing Mr Teoh Hock Seng knew, the rear of a taxi was half-way inside his shop, shattering the glass window.

"There was a loud bang and the taxi came up the kerb and hit the shop," he said.

The taxi not only smashed the front of his shop, it also damaged part of the ceiling and the partition between his shop and the hairdressing shop next door.

There were no customers in either shop, but Mr Teoh said a woman with a baby in a pram had been outside his shop when the cab reversed suddenly.

A police spokesman said the woman had minor injuries and was treated by a paramedic at the scene.

The baby was unhurt.
