SINGAPORE : The S.League season starts on Saturday, but the curtain-raiser - the Charity Shield - was held on Wednesday evening, with Tampines Rovers beating defending champions Etoile FC 2-1 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.

Etoile, the first foreign team to win the S.League title in 2010, are hoping to continue their championship form this season.

And the French outfit, boasting an almost new set of players, took the lead through a penalty, with Maxime Belouet converting from the spot kick in the 12th minute.

But the Stags levelled the score in the second half, with Aleksandar Duric on target in the 85th minute.

And four minutes later, Park Yo Seb scored the winner, and with it, the title for Tampines Rovers.
