Singapore rockers "Caracal" invited to perform at Canadian Music Festival

SINGAPORE: A Singapore rock band has been invited to perform alongside the likes of Janet Jackson, Good Charlotte and other top acts at the Canadian Music Festival in March.

Naming themselves after a cat - "Caracal" has been gaining a following in Singapore.

Having a unique name and a passion to perform, "Caracal" has also been getting critical acclaim in the regional media for their debut album - "Bear.Shark.Wolf"

However, there is one stumbling block for the band - money,

The band said it needs S$21,000 to travel to Canada with their equipment and so far, they have only managed 50 per cent of that sum.

Gabriel said: "We've never played in another country where they speak English. The other tours we did were in China which was a very good experience as well, but I feel this would be more to our liking."

Vocalist KC Meals added: "We just have to make do. We've done it before in China with the lowest form of accommodation. Hotels without toilet doors and some of our stuff getting stolen and we still made it through an entire month. Just getting there costs so much money so, I mean if we got no place to stay, it'll be fine."
