MAS to let Singapore dollar strengthen further if needed

SINGAPORE - Singapore's central bank will allow the Singapore dollar to strengthen further if necessary to limit the impact of rising prices, said Second Finance Minister Lim Hwee Hua, the Straits Times newspaper reported on Thursday.

She also said the government will do more to help lower- and middle-income Singaporeans cope with the higher cost of living in the 2011/12 budget that will be announced on Feb 18.
