HPB's 'Lose to Win' TV show suspended

SINGAPORE - The reality television show "Lose to Win" - a 12-week weight management challenge by the Health Promotion Board (HPB) - has been suspended.

This follows the death of a man who took part in its group exercises as a returning alumnus on Jan 22.

Mr Ong Joo Aun, 54, collapsed after a walking session at Yishun Stadium. The cause of his death was recorded as "ischaemic heart disease".

Health Minister Khaw Boon Wan told Parliament yesterday that an expert panel had been set up to review the entire programme.

"In Mr Ong's case, although he had a heart bypass 10 years ago, his doctor had found his medical condition stable and that he was fit to exercise regularly."
