Halfway through the journey, around the vicinity of Johor Bahru, the bus caught fire and there was smoke. All the passengers began to panic and the bus driver shouted at everyone to alight from the bus.

The situation seemed out of control and some children were crying, according to tom1986sg.

Transtar Travel took several hours to dispatch a replacement bus to pick up all the stranded passengers.

The next day, tom1986sg managed to contact the manager of Transtar Travel and he related the story about the trip. However, the manager was not apologetic and argued that he should have bought travel insurance from the company before the trip.

The managed offered a cheque for $100 as compensation for him and his family, but he never cashed the cheque and has "vowed never to travel with Transtar Travel again."
